Each year, on the Monday closest to Glenlee’s launch date (3 December 1896), we celebrate her anniversary with a special guest lecture. This year, on Monday, 1 December, we are delighted to welcome artist and broadcaster Lachlan Goudie as our guest speaker for the 2025 Anniversary Lecture — Awesome Beauty: The Art of Industry.
The evening will begin at 6:00 pm for a 6:30 pm start, followed by a buffet and refreshments.
In this lecture, artist and broadcaster Lachlan Goudie explores fifteen years of painting and drawing across Britain’s industrial heartlands — from the shipyards of the Clyde to the steelworks of Wales and aerospace labs of Portsmouth. His work captures the power, scale, and humanity of modern engineering, continuing a rich artistic tradition that celebrates the beauty and drama of industry.
