'31st May 1993, the essential “Insurance Survey Certificate” was signed and issued by “The Salvage Association”
I had calculated the distance Seville/Clyde at 1,380 nautical miles. Assuming no stops, at 5 knots the voyage would take 11 days 12 hours, at 6 knots 9 days 14 hours and at 7 knows 8 days and 5 hours.
I had drawn up a watch list where one of us was on watch at all times and, if either of the others were in any doubt over anything they were to call me. Weather to be recorded every 2 hours and lights checked frequently. None go below alone as there was a danger of falling and being injured. Information as to where lifejackets, first aid kit, torches etc. were stored were shared with the riding party.'
