Bursting with exciting and thought-provoking objects to handle and explore, fun games, and engaging activities and classroom discussion topics, our chests are enhanced with a range of digital resources such living history videos, craft activities and other links. Your students will get a real flavour of what life was really like aboard a turn-of-the-century ship, learn why Glaswegian ships were recognised as the best in the world, and respond creatively to a wide range of stimuli.
These chests can either act as a preliminary introduction to the ship and its history before a class visit, or simply as a stand-alone resource. The chests are designed for teachers to select activities and resources that are suitable and appropriate for their classes with a wide range of outcomes for the Curriculum for Excellence available. Topics supported can include anything from Glaswegian and Scottish history, pirates, ship-building, trading, and transport. Chests can be borrowed per week for a single class, or a longer period can be facilitated if there are multiple classes interested!

In order to ensure the experience is as safe as it can be, for both your group and for our staff, we have had to make a few short term changes.
We will only be accommodating one group per day, which will lessen any cross contamination between school bubbles, while also making sure we have the time and resources to disinfect. The workshops on offer will also be limited, as some materials cannot be easily sanitised and so we will have to rely on quarantining resources.
We would be more than happy to share our COVID-19 policy with any groups wishing to visit in order to provide more reassurance to the measures we are taking to ensure everyone's safety.
